Plant Shift Leader (Kiln Coach)

PROJECT OVERVIEW

STC is undertaking a brownfield expansion of its cement plant in Pyi Nyaung Village, Thazi Township, Mandalay.

International Finance Corporation (IFC), the arm of the World Bank Group (WBG), is financed this project to promote sustainable private sector investment in developing countries, help reduce poverty, and improve people’s lives.

STC is seeking to strengthen its Environmental, Health, Safety and Social (EHSS) Department through the recruitment of Environmental Specialist, with special emphasis in the area of Mining Industry in Sagaing region.

Purpose of Job

Manage the whole process of production from raw material preparation (reclaiming) to clinker storage to ensure that the defined quantity of finished and semi-finished product is ready for delivery on time, within the specified quality and budgeted costs.

Responsibilities

  1. Production operations Plan, organize, manage and monitor the clinker production to achieve the quantities within the desired quality level and budgeted cost.
  2. Production operations In collaboration with relevant stakeholders (Quality Control Manager and Process Monitoring Engineer), undertake actions to minimize failures and to achieve the desired quality standard.
  3. Refractory Maintenance Manage predictive maintenance of refractory; maintain refractory stock and critical spares carry out repair work during kiln major shutdown in coordination with Mechanical, Electrical, and Preventive Maintenance Managers.
  4. People management Inform and motivate kiln and all related personnel, ensure their availability and performance according to plant needs and promote their professional development through coaching, individual development plans and trainings.
  5. Management – Cost control  Implement effective and systematic solutions to achieve budget and to meet or exceed targets.

6. OH&S and environment   Guarantee and foster compliance with OH&S and environment policies for all kiln personnel. Contribute to plant cleanliness.

7. Communicate and implement regulations, company goals, local permits, policies and procedures; maintain break down history and up-to-date production data

8. Optimize the internal processes and structures. Supervise personnel to apply them consistently and ensure ISO compliance for related activities.

9. Innovation and continuous improvement. Consider new techniques and/or technologies to optimize clinker manufacturing cost by continuous improvement in electrical and fuel consumption. Use experience from other plants or industries.

KPIs

  1. Zero fatal/severe accident
  2. Meet annual budgeted clinker volume and clinker production cost
  3. Meet KPIs (Power consumption, Fuel consumption, Refractory consumption,) etc.

Experience & Skill

  • 5 years’ or more experience in a cement industry or engineering (preferably with supervisory responsibility) dealing with kiln operation.
  • Good command in understanding of kiln process parameters and its timely adjustment
  • Strategic alignment; analysis and problem solving; business and financial acumen

Qualification

  • Degree in Chemical/Mineral Process Engineering from recognized institute of repute
  • MS-Office, CMMS, and/or SAP

Strong interpersonal skills, the manager must be able to speak and carry out routine dialogues with  employees
